A final exam is carried out for each course. The effect rates of the midterm exams, projects, assignments and applications on the passing grade are determined by the faculty members at the beginning of each semester and are announced after being approved by the institute board. All assignments, applications and exams are evaluated on a basis of 100 points and the effect of the grade of the final exam on the passing grade cannot be less than 50%. In order to be considered as successful in each course, the passing grade must be at least 65 out of 100 for Master (second cycle) programmes. Attendance to courses is obligatory in master (second cycle) programmes. Students who do not attend 30% or more of the theoretical and applied courses are considered as DZ (not attended) and are not admitted to the final exams of these courses. If students fail a course, they have to retake it. However, if the failed course is an elective one, students can choose a different elective with the suggestion of their academic counselor and the approval of the institute board. “Specialized field lectures” can be given for students who study similar thesis subjects with an approval from the institute board and the head of the concerned department.
